25th Anniversary Event

Jaguar Enthusiast’s Club, Essex Thameside Region, celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year and, to mark the occasion, on Sunday 3rd August held a bar-b-que at Essex Police Sports & Social Club in Chelmsford.  It was an out and out success.

Over 90 members and partners attended and enjoyed the festivities and the glorious sunshine. The Australian Bar-B-Que Company provided the food which was well appreciated and enjoyed by all. “The Curves”, a local Essex Band, provided the music and I have to say, they got a number of our members up and dancing the jive and similar dance routines from the 50’s & 60’s.

This was the biggest event our club has hosted for its current members with such a fine array of Jaguars from each decade, back to the 60’s. The club gazebo was used by the band to shield them from the sun and an assortment of E Type Jaguars stood to the left of the stand, while an assortment of Daimlers/Jaguars MkII’s stood to the right. All other Jaguars were parked in the main car park adjacent to the Sports & Social Club. There were Jaguars from every decade going back to the 60’s including XJ6’s, XJS’s, XK8’s, E-, S- & X-Types, a 420 and 420G as well as a gleaming British Racing Green SS100 replica.

During the event, a special award was given to Sue Hawthorne and Roger Petheram who have been members of the club for the whole period of 25 years. A chrome coloured 1/43 scale E-Type Jaguar mounted on a wooden base with a plaque commemorating 25 years membership was presented to them both.
