This is the first time in 18 years that I have gone
for a smaller car than the XJ range and the first time ever that I have chosen a
diesel power train.
I drove my 4.2 litre petrol XJ8
Sovereign 250 miles to Blackburn where I purchase my vehicles from, leaving at
4:50 am on the 18th December arriving at the dealership at 8:30 am
and during this trip I averaged 21.5 miles to the gallon!!

I then took delivery of my new
Jaguar Premium Luxury XF 2.7 litre diesel and after a couple of hours rest drove
home again averaging 36.5 miles to the gallon (now I know why I changed to a
diesel).
Having driven the vehicle for a
couple of months now I am very impressed with the room in both the front and
rear cabins and therefore I don’t miss the extra space and you can hardly hear
the diesel engine (except initially when starting from cold but even then it is
quieter than I thought it would be). The power is certainly sufficient not to
notice the difference between the 2.7 litre diesel engine and the 4.2 litre
petrol engine and the advance in technology is amazing since I purchased my
Sovereign from new 20 months ago
