Southern Day 2008 |
Some of us attended the show and was pleased that yet again the weather held out and the turn out was fantastic with many stunning examples on display. This was one of the best southern day shows that we could remember.
|
Battlesbridge 2008 |
Yet again the show was a popular event with many cars turning out for the day. The weather held out apart from a brief shower. We had a brass band this time which played twice during a pause in the activities and we were well attended by the Kent South Region VW club, Area 33 as well as others. Our thanks go to everyone who made the day a success.
| HamStreet 2008 | Just one week after the Museum of power show we were off again to the Hamstreet County Fare, courtesy of the Kent South Region. We all met up in the Tesco's car park, and due to leaving a little bit late we were causing some smiles, as the first of the customers turned up and were confronted by about 55 Jaguars all lined up, waiting to leave. It was an impressive site as we drove down the duel carriageway. In my rear view window it was Jags as far as you could see. The show itself was fantastic and we were fed and watered by the Kent South Region. There was so much to see and do - from watching the racing (the finals of the Lawnmower race) to learning some new dance moves and lets not forget the falconry display. Our thanks to the Kent South region for the kind invite. | |
|
MG Museum of Power Car Show |
After the Battlesbridge show, this was the first show for June. I never realised just how many MG's there are in Essex. The weather held out for us, and the Museum of Power was very interesting with many Steam exhibits as well as a miniature railway.

Yarmouth Trip 2008 |
After last years successful mid week break at Eastbourne, we were all off again - but this time to Yarmouth. Another all inclusive mid week break. Our numbers were almost twice of that last year and it is fair to say we almost took over part of the hotel. By the end of the week, the staff new what we all drank and they hadn't run out of anything, which was quite surprising as some of us thought we would give it a go! Whilst there, although the weather was cold and windy, that didn't stop us going out and exploring Yarmouth town as well as Fakenham, which had one of the largest 'bits and bobs' auctions I have seen for a while. On Wednesday we all went to Yarmouth dogs to celebrate a members birthday. The food was fantastic and to make matters even better some of us even managed to come away with winnings. |
Awaiting images - they are coming - honest... |

Halewood Visit Feb 2008 |
The
trip to Halewood was a complete success. We had 14 members from |

Annual Dinner Dance Jan 2008 |
Our first dinner
dance at our new venue was a resounding success with the hall packed out with members
and guests awaiting their food and enjoying their cabaret.
Geoff once again kindly deposited several packs of balloons at each table
as well as party poppers and much inter dinner balloon missile aiming occurred
between courses. The food was fabulous and people got up and danced
the night away. Jim has excelled himself on the picture front, most of
which can be viewed on this link.

JEC Southern Day at Littlecote House 19th August |
For those who couldn't make it this was a great day out. The weather managed to hold off until the late afternoon and the shows performed during the day were very entertaining. There were some truly amazing vehicles including the Corsica Convertible (As seen in the JEC Magazine), almost finished and looking brilliant. We had a large turn out and many thanks for the other Thameside members for helping out. Hundreds of cars turned out and braved the weather which helped the show become a resounding success.
|
Thameside Show 6th August 07 |
This year was another
responding success with over 250 cars attending, including the TR club,
Area 33 and JEC southern region. The tea tent was heaving, and although
hard work, everybody pitched in to make the day more enjoyable.
Kathy and Graham made some lovely signs which were placed along strategic routes. The combination of the signs and the first really hot Sunday this year and the seemed to help bring out the cars in droves. A big thanks to everybody that helped |
|
| Porsche BBQ 10th July 07 | This year was another success for the Porsche Club. the weather held out, and many local car clubs came along to join in the festivities. The Thameside region had its own spot on the 8th Fairway, much to the amusement of us golfers - I wonder whether pick and place would be allowed? Many clubs turned up including Aston Martin, Ferrari, Porsche (of course), TVR, Lotus, to name but a few. The food was excellent and it made a great midweek diversion. | |
| Chelmer River Cruise - 8th July 07 | This year was another great success with the Chelmer river cruise. The boat owners were informed that much merriment was to be had on board, and as such plenty of drinks were stored below decks. The cruise proceeded as planned with drinks and nibbles. once at the other end some of the best Fish and chips that I have had for a while were waiting for us. After a brief stroll and fully sated we boarded again for the trip back. The scenery was great and once again, this trip was a huge success and a great day out. (10 meg file - may take a while to download) | |
| AutoGlym Presentaion 3rd July 07 | During our monthly club meet, we had a guest speaker from Autoglym who was able to talk about several different products, some of which we hadn't heard of before. I think that night there may have been a couple of converts back to Autoglym. |
|
| Park n Picnic Sun 17th June 07 | A great day out,
and thanks to the TR club for attending. Doug done a fantastic job of
arranging the the museum, and we even managed to get a close up look of
the Essex Police Helicopter. Quite a machine. The weather held out, the
drinks were very reasonable and it was a fantastic day.
A Big thanks to Doug for arranging this day. Well Done Doug. |
|
| Battlesbridge Motorbilia Show 11th May 07 | Although the weather tried to dampen our spirits, it was still a great turn out with loads of different kinds of vehicles turning up. By 1.00pm the rain had become more torrential and most of us had all retreated to our cars; communicating was possible by lowering the windows! Shortly after we started to depart which was a shame as the turnout considering the weather was fantastic. |
No Pictures available. (Too wet) |
| Sunday Lunch at Top Meadow Golf Course. 30th April 07 | This Sunday lunch has been proclaimed by all as the best yet. The food was fantastic, the weather was great, and a large Jag club turn out ensured a great time was had by all. There was a large range of food to choose from and the desert trolley was crammed with the nicest deserts one could wish for. The only downside was that we were only allowed one desert each! |
No Pictures available. |
| Sunday lunch at Thaxted Hall.Sun 25th Mar 07 | The Sunday lunch was a huge success with a large turn out. The weather food and company were fantastic. It was the perfect opportunity to get the cars out of the covers, give them a quick spring clean and take them out for a run. |

| Annual Dinner Dance 17th Feb 07 | The annual dinner dance was once again a great success with the hall packed out with members and guests awaiting their food and enjoying their cabaret. Geoff deposited several packs of balloons at each table and much merriment was to be had aiming the balloons at unsuspecting tables and waiters/tresses. The food was just as good as last year and everybody had a chance to burn off those calories with a boogie, courtesy of the band who were fantastic. Jim has once again managed to take some fantastic pictures, which he has converted into a movie. This a medium sized file (7meg) so it may take a while to download unless you have broadband. | Eastbourne Trip 5th -9th Feb 07 | Eastbourne
was a fantastic great short week away, which had the added benefit of free
drink and full board. Even the cabaret was included which made for a
fantastic evening and a good time was guaranteed for all. We arrived on
Monday, and after bingo had finished (we were not allowed to talk through
that) we entered the bar and started to sample the range on drinks on
offer.
During the day we visited some local towns including Rye and Brighton. Rye was a lovely little town that specialised in antiques. On both occasions shortly before lunch a visit to the local was in order to warm up with a spiced Rum. On the return from Brighton some of us diverted and visited Beachy Head - and yes we all managed to return. Thursday we stayed in - mindful of the 'Big Snow Storm', and visited Eastbourne. Some of the lads went off and found a snooker hall whilst the others went around shopping and generally enjoying themselves. |
|
| Sunday Lunch at the Eagle 14th Jan 06 | Just as we were getting over our Christmas excesses we all went down to the local and had a great Sunday Lunch - as we as some beer. It was a good time to say hello to everyone and catch up with things. |

| Bruges Trip 01st Dec 04 | This was a fantastic weekend away; and as your would expect from Bruges, too many chocolates and beer were consumed. The ice sculptures at the Station were fantastic; it was all based around Ice Age II. At the Bruges town centre there was an ice skating rink surrounded by Christmas Stalls. Mulled wine was the order of the day around the stalls, followed by some Christmas Shopping. Jim has done a fantastic AVI of the pictures taken. Its a medium sized file (7meg) so it may take a while to download unless you have broadband.. Click here to view. | |
| Finchingfield 19th Nov 06 | This was a great day out. The weather held out, the pub was great, and the food was excellent. We all commented that we would like to go again. The food was served on huge plates, and the portions were just as generous. This caused a few problems when it came to finishing desert, but I think we all managed it - Just! Well done to Geoff for finding and recommending this place. Jim has put together an AVI of the pictures taken. Its a medium sized file (4.5meg) so it may take a while to download unless you have broadband.. Click here to view. | |
