JEC Essex Thameside AGM

JEC Essex Thameside AGM

The club’s Annual General Meeting was held in Langdon Hills Country Golf Clubhouse on Tuesday 6 May.

Chairman’s Report

Since May last year, we attended the Maldon Car Show, Cressing Temple, Helmingham Festival of Classics and Sports Cars, the September meet at Battlesbridge and our own November Dinner Dance at which we raised £500 for the Macmillan Cancer Charity. We hope to present a cheque at next month’s meeting.

We also had our long weekend in Belgium which those that attended really enjoyed, although we could have done without the breakdowns and crashes on route. We will again be looking at another European Tour in 2015.

Grange Motors supplied us with an F-Type Convertible which was certainly a looker and brought in crowds when we displayed it at the shows we attended.

Throughout this past year we lost some dear friends of the club, including Angela Hawkins and David Lazarus as well as more recently Albert Neall’s wife, Lillie and John Euesden’s partner, Daphne Bean. We will remember them fondly and the memories they left on our lives.

My thanks goes to Carrol Perryman for her contribution as membership secretary and to Ian Antrobus who will be standing down as webmaster today. We are fortunate to have Ray Berris volunteer to take over from Carrol which will be ratified at this evening’s AGM.

I would also thank the National Club for their contribution in assisting our club with a new flag. This was supplied F.O.C.

Our club has gone from strength to strength with our membership steadily increasing over this past year and we hope will continue to increase as the year goes by. As you know we celebrate 25 years since this club was formed and will be holding a free barbeque and band for members on Sunday 3 August.

Finally, I would like to thank the members for making the club what it is and the committee members for the time they give up to support me and the club.
