On Saturday 4 October, The Hare in Roxwell Road, Chelmsford, held its last ‘Breakfast Meet’ of the year. A number of members attended to this special event as Channel 4 were recording for a forthcoming programme due out in March 2015, or so we are told. The programme was recorded by a company called “Off the Fence”. At this point, I’m not sure what the programme will be called, but will advise when further information is forthcoming.
One of the highlights of the day was the arrival of a BMW M1 circa 1979. These cars are very rare and worth up to a quarter of a million pounds. Also on the day we had around 10 Lamborghini’s and the same number of Ferrari’s.
As usual, Porsches, Aston Martins, Jaguars, Caterham 7s and Lotus were also in attendance along with a number of the other makes. The car park was again full to bursting, to the extent that there were fears that the police may attend, as parking on the A1060 road and grass verges was impeding traffic. One unfortunate incident though was that when one of the Lamborghini’s left the pub – at speed – a police traffic car was just coming around the corner. I hasten to say that he got tugged. Naughty, naughty! Not sure of the outcome but he is unlikely to get a speeding ticket.
The sun shone all morning so it was a good end to the year of the ‘Breakfast Meets’ and we all look forward to next April when it is due to resume again.
